Priestess TV Episode 32 - Spirituality & Social Justice with Sonali Fiske
We have been waiting for this episode to be aired, and the timing could not have been more aligned. We thank Sonali Fiske for flying over from the US and sitting with us for this powerful conversation.
We, Julie + Sora, highly encourage you to carve out 25 minutes and listen. We can all do better as people of this world, and Sonali’s wisdom brings forth food for thought.
What is sacred activism?
“We cannot simply and blindly go about with our businesses without acknowledging that there are others whose civil liberties are threatened daily,” Sonali states.
Here are things to look at in your business and in your life.
Address racial illiteracy
Stop cherry-picking spiritual practices to build one’s brand
Cease any harm that is being done
End marginalization and dehumanization
Listen deeper
How do we change systemic racism, cultural appropriation, and social injustice? By having the uncomfortable conversation. We encourage everyone to have discussions in community so that a collective shift can occur.
It is time to dig deep into your journey.
It’s time to share your story.
It is time to amplify the voices of BIPOC.
Sonali Fiske
Sonali Fiske (she/her) is a Sri Lankan-American women's leadership consultant for black indigenous, women of color, a TEDx Speaker, radio host, and founder of Pick Your Platform & Raise Your Voice. Her work centers the often suppressed, sidelined and marginalized stories of those still considered on the fringes of society. Her recent online masterclass on "Dismantling White Dominance in Women's Entrepreneurship" went viral, and centered the stories and lived experiences of women of color who are countering the current narrative in leadership, influence, and social justice.
On her talk show, Revolutionary Voices,” Her jam is confronting uneasy issues like colonization, tokenism, white supremacy and cultural appropriation, and more — to help reimagine the narrative and dismantle the systems of oppression people of color live and work in every day. Sonali is also currently a council member of the International Council of Interfaith & Indigenous Women. In her creative-flow time, she performs spoken word, leads storytelling workshops, and is working on her first anthology of brown poems.
